Kesäisessä Tallinnassa riittää jos jonkinlaista ohjelmaa moneen makuun. Loppukuusta järjestettävä pokeritapahtuma, Kings of Tallinn Summer Showdown, houkuttelee kaupunkiin väkeä myös Viron ulkopuolelta.
Summer Showdown on suomalaisillekin jo tutuksi tulleen Kings of Tallinnan kesäinen versio. Tällä kertaa kymmenen päivän mittaiseen tapahtumaan mahtuu yhteensä yli 50 yksittäistä pokerieventtiä, joissa nähdään niin ammattipelaajia kuin aloittelijoita. Kings of Tallinn on nykyään koko Pohjois-Euroopan suurin pokeritapahtuma, joten osallistujia odotetaan tälläkin kertaa paljon.
– Viime tapahtumissa on ollut vierailijoita yli 30 maasta, paljastaa Olympic Entertainment Groupin Suomen markkinointi- ja myyntijohtaja Marko Arpiainen.
Tapahtuman keskiössä ovat tietenkin lukuisat pokeriturnaukset, mutta myös julkisuudesta tutut kasvot kiinnostavat kävijöitä. Jos kantti kestää, Summer Showdownissa voi testata pokeritaitojaan samassa pöydässä julkkispelaajien kanssa.
– Isoin tapahtuma on vuodesta toiseen supersuosittu julkkisturnauksemme, jossa halukkaat voivat pelata julkimoita vastaan, Arpiainen muistuttaa.
”Jännitys on käsinkosketeltavaa”
Tälläkin kertaa paikan päälle odotetaan saapuvaksi paljon pohjoismaalaisia osallistujia. Heidän joukossaan on muun muassa tuttu julkkiskasvo ja tuottaja Eeva Malin.
– En ole muuten kova pokerin pelaaja, mutta näissä turnajaisissa minä pyrin aina käymään, koska siellä tapaa mukavia ja kiinnostavia ihmisiä ja jännitys on suorastaan käsinkosketeltavaa, hän selittää.
Malin on istunut pelipöydässä pariin kertaan aiemminkin ja tällä kertaa hän aikoo jälleen lyödä korttinsa pöytään.
– Jo ensimmäisellä kerralla onnistuin pysymään pelissä viisi tuntia, mikä oli minulta todella hyvä suoritus. Aloittelijan tuurillahan tässä vielä mennään, mutta jos vain pystyn keskittymään kunnolla, uskon voivani pärjätä hyvin, hän arvelee.
Jokaisen pelaajan silmissä siintävät tietenkin voittosummat, mutta Malin vakuuttaa, että hänelle tärkeintä on tapahtumaan osallistuminen.
– En halua jättää yhtäkään turnausta väliin, sillä muistot joka reissusta ovat olleet niin ihania. Tapahtuman tunnelma ja meininki vievät mennessään.
Myös Arpiainen allekirjoittaa Malinin näkemyksen. Hänen mukaansa tapahtumissa on aina vallinnut positiivinen ilmapiiri ja hyvä yhteishenki.
– Joka kerta on ilo nähdä kuinka lämpimästi uudet naamat otetaan pokeriyhteisöön mukaan, hän sanoo.
Kings of Tallinn Summer Showdown -pokeritapahtuma järjestetään 21.–30. heinäkuuta Hilton Tallinn Parkissa ja Olympic Park Casinolla. Tapahtumaan kuuluu yhteensä 53 pokerieventtiä, joten luvassa on varsinainen voittojahti.
